The 2021 Summer Reading List for Our Times

As we enter our second pandemic summer, this reading list speaks to the issues of our times. While continuous learning is an ongoing theme of all my semi-annual book lists, this summer, it is front and centre with rock-star psychologist Adam Grant's most recent offering about knowing what we don't know.

Fairness at work has been an overarching topic of late (finally). Kim Scott's anxiously-awaited follow-up to her wildly successful book Radical Candor treats this vital topic with her usual directness and common sense. Remote work, now a mainstay for many, is brilliantly covered by several thoughtful and helpful voices in an accessible and always popular Harvard Business School Guide.

My top pick is Canadian Dr. Mary Donohue's book, Message Received, where she shares foundational and timely communication tips. We round out the list with well-timed entries on job search, business etiquette, and optimism. And just in time for a summer of re-openings, Priya Parker's lessons on gathering stand us all in good stead.

Have a great summer, and happy reading!
