Pierre Battah: Speaker, Educator and Author

Pierre Battah is an award-winning author and workplace leadership specialist. He is a long-time workplace columnist for CBC/Radio-Canada, a TEDx presenter, a former senior manager in HR and was previously an associate professor in management. Pierre holds an MBA and several professional designations. His book Humanity at Work, Leading for Better Relationships and Results won gold at the 2020 Nautilus Book Awards in the US.

He is the new executive in residence and moderator at the Wallace McCain Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership, and he recently received Rotary International’s highest distinction, the Paul Harris Award for outstanding contribution to the community.

Author

Pierre is the author of the award-winning book, Humanity at Work, Leading for Better Relationships and Results - published by Los Angeles-based Wonderwell Press and released in Canada, the US, the UK, and Australia in September 2020. Humanity at Work won the gold medal in the Business and Leadership category at the US-based 2020 Nautilus Book Awards, whose stated purpose is Better Books for a Better World. Past winners include His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Rhonda Byrne and Deepak Chopra. To be clear, Pierre won in a very different category!

 

Trainer

Pierre has spoken to audiences across Canada and in the United States. He has provided training for UNB’s College of Extended Learning and l’Université de Moncton’s Continuing Education Department and many private, public, and not-for-profit sector employers and associations.

Pierre’s training is informed by the most contemporary thinking around sustainability and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). His approach is interactive, sometimes humorous, and always enlightening. His work is evidence-based, consistent with contemporary best practices and includes valuable content. He focuses on building capabilities and competencies with practical takeaways and helpful lessons that can be put into practice immediately. Pierre’s approach is also in keeping with the commonly accepted theories and principles of adult learning.

 

Speaker

Pierre’s highly relatable style has been appreciated by small audiences of local community volunteers and large audiences of international conference delegates. Pierre has been awarded his CSP™ (Certified Speaking Professional).

The CSP™ is the only earned designation for professional speakers. Only 63 Canadians currently hold this designation for speaking excellence. This designation signifies exceptional achievement through a proven record of speaking experience. This designation is granted under the auspices of the Global Speakers Federation.

 

Experience & Education

He has occupied senior management roles with some of Canada’s leading employers, including the Atlantic Lottery Corporation and Assumption Life. He was a long-time managing partner with KBRS, one of Canada’s leading integrated human capital companies supporting clients through recruitment, HR consulting, career transition, leadership development, assessment and coaching. He was previously an assistant professor of management at Mount Allison University.

Pierre holds an MBA from l’Université de Moncton and a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of New Brunswick. He is also a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR). Pierre was previously recognized as the HR Professional of the Year by his peers at the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources New Brunswick.

Bilingual

Pierre is fluently bilingual in French and English. He speaks, facilitates, and leads workshops in both languages and bilingually with or without simultaneous translation. His visual aids and handout materials are available in both languages.

 

Human

Pierre is a kind and humble human. For all of his work, including book sales and work as a speaker and trainer, he donates a portion of the proceeds to Plan Canada to improve the lives of women and girls struggling with poverty.

Pierre is also a musician, dabbling on the double bass with jazz and classical ensembles and lives in Moncton, New Brunswick, with his wife Gabrielle and several non-hypoallergenic cats.
